COBALT BACKUP WHAT'S CHANGED?
VERSION 1.0.5

December 15, 2009

Improved performance of statistical information in the backup list. File target generation wasn’t required and removed to increase speed. This also increased the speed of backup starts.

Opening source and destination files with the SequentialScan option to increase I/O performance with some files.

Improved performance when reading & writing files for backups. This was due to a very large buffer size I left in since the alpha build. Buffer was set at a ridiculous 2MB and is now set to 8KB. File I/O speed has increased dramatically. There is still some optimization needed when copying multiple small files.

Fixed bug when a locked file could be opened, but then read operations would fail causing the application to crash. A try/catch statement was added in related code.

Logging now occurs and a tool within the application was created to view the log.

Crashing would occur if statistical information was refreshing in the Backup list. The main windows now waits for all statistic threads to end before closing. This prevents the crash.

Added a line to the status block showing the speed of the current backup operation.

There will be a small delay on this release due to issues with my car. No, not because I can't drive somewhere, but because I'm my own mechanic. Car runs alright, fixed a misfire today, will have to do my camshaft position exhaust side sensor later this week. Unfortunately this has taken some of the time I needed to finish the logging system with Cobalt.

I'll keep you guys updated. I know that even though some of you aren't posting, you are definitely reading.
