Cobalt update needed... 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
So... I just hooked my external HDD into my router and wanted to setup network backups with Cobalt.. Unfortunately, I can't. Cobalt can't recognize network drives. Anything you can do about this?

Just a suggestion.. Im attaching an screen shot of the error I get...

Your subject may very well be your fix. The screenshot shows version 1.0.4. Please install version 1.0.6.

On a side note:
Cobalt was not designed for backing up to a network. Primary design was for flash drives and external hard drives.

Get back to me after you've installed the latest version and we can still take a look into what might be going on. Thanks.

I've confirmed Version 1.0.6 will not crash when accessing network drives; however there is a bug that isn't allowing it to know if there is free space on the network drive. The outcome is any folders will be created, but no files will copy. A log item and alert is thrown in the program instead of a crash.

I may be able to look into this and have it resolved.

ok, so I updated and now my subscription key is invalid.. Im currently running the trial but I'll get back to you on the network backup...

[Edit] - So I tested it again... FYI - The way Im doing this is by manually keying in (in my case) \\WRT610 as the path to the network drive. I still get the "unhandled exception error."

New version is ready for download.
Version 1.0.7 can now determine free space on network drives.
Cobalt successfully created directories and copied files to a shared drive on a networked laptop. This laptop has Windows 7 and the backup source is also Windows 7. The procedures used are the same in other versions of Windows. Please let me know your results.
